NEWS Diamond Jubilee Ball
The Cosgriff School hosted its Diamond Jubilee Ball on Saturday Evening December 1st 2018 at ZINC Federation Square. The theme for the Ball was ‘A touch of Purple’
The history of the Cosgriff School dates back to 1959, when the school was founded at the Holy Spirit Hall in Thornbury.
Students of the school often have opportunity to perform both locally and nationally. In the past, the school has been involved in many events, including:
- The FINA World Swimming Championships Opening and Closing Ceremonies
- Bendigo Military Tattoo
- Hobart Military Tattoo
- The Jim Stynes Grand Irish Charity Ball
- The Melbourne International Comedy Festival
- The Jimeoin Show
- The Denise Show
- St Patrick’s Day celebrations
- Welcome events for Irish Presidents Mary Robinson and Mary McAleese
- Heartquest
- Celebration of Canonisation of Saint Mary MacKillop
- Weddings and Birthday celebrations
Our Irish Dancers have gone on to great success, with many winning titles at State, National and World Championship level, in Solo Dance, Ceili , Figure and Dance Drama competitions. Some have toured in shows such as Riverdance, Lord of the Dance and To Dance on The Moon. Three of our dancers won medals at the 2015 World Championships in Montreal.
Former pupil, Conor Hayes ADCRG, won the World Title in the Senior Men’s section in 1996, one of the greatest achievements in competitive Irish Dancing.
Twenty six former pupils have now attained their TCRG certificates and several are also qualified as ADCRG.
